The GTA 40 is STIHL’s first dedicated battery-powered pruner for professional use. Part of the AS System and powered by 2x AS 2 lithium-ion batteries, this tool has been designed for use on the ground or in the air. Ideal for tree and shrub care, professional work in horticulture and landscaping as well as processing wood on construction sites and working in tree canopies or on crown reduction tasks.
Please note, the GTA 40 is only certified for aerial use by trained arborists

Side-Mounted Chain Tensioning
FOR SIMPLE AND SECURE RE-TENSIONING. Side-mounted chain tensioning allows for protected, easy and quick chain tensioning and replacement. The tensioning screw is inserted laterally through the sprocket cover.
Tool-Free Oil Tank
Thanks to the soft grip on the control handle, the chainsaw sits comfortably in the hand and can be operated safely. In addition, the users grip is improved by the soft material, which helps when using the chainsaw in wet conditions.
LED Charge-Level Indicator
At the push of a button, the LED charge-level indicator will show the battery’s remaining capacity. This allows you to efficiently plan working hours and charge the battery in good time.
Hanging Eye And Overloading Ring
FOR ADDING FALL PROTECTION. To secure the GTA 40 against falling during climbing work, the overload ring can be attached to the climbing harness.
EC Motor
LOW-MAINTENANCE AND EFFICIENT. Thanks to its compact design, low weight and high efficiency, the EC motor enables you to work in an energy efficient manner. This engine also has a long service life.
Captive Nuts
When changing the cutting attachment, you will not risk losing the nuts on the sprocket.
Constant Power
When using other brands of battery tools, the performance can sometimes decrease during work as the battery discharges. This isn't the case with STIHL battery-powered tools. Thanks to the intelligent electronics, your tool will work with consistently high power across the entire battery charge, until there is no energy left in the battery.
IPX4 Certified
SPLASHWATER PROTECTION. The AP 200 S is IPX4 certified thanks to the encapsulated electronics and sealing of each individual cell. It means that the battery is protected against splashwater from all sides and can be used in rainy conditions.
